Baroma Downs Braford Stud is owned and operated by Doug and Susie Barnett, at Croppa Creek NSW.
Baroma Downs is situated on 5000 acres of prime farming and grazing country in the heart of the golden triangle, 65 kms north east of Moree and 75 kms south of Goondiwindi on the Queensland Border.
The success of the farming enterprise at Baroma Downs enabled Doug and Susie to move the majority of their operation to their Goondiwindi property “Minima South”, in 2008.
Baroma Downs is sewn to oats for finishing cattle.
The stud was established in 1969 when Doug and his father purchased three braford bulls at the first Bos Indicus sale in Tamworth NSW, as well as the acquisition of a bull and cows from Central Queensland. This marked the beginning of a very successful breeding programme.
Over the years Baroma Downs Brafords have built a reputation for their quality cattle and have shown and exhibited successfully, winning many championships at Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne Royals, as well as many country shows, being the first Braford Stud to show successfully in three states.
Baroma Downs held their first on property bull sale in 1983, and held annual sales up until 1999.
Bulls have been sold at Dubbo and Rockhampton Braford Sales as well as private sales. Baroma Downs bulls and females sold from these past sales have produced top quality progeny for the Braford breed, throughout Queensland and NSW.
2013 was the year the Baroma Downs Stud recommenced their on farm sale, offered was 30 Bulls and 20 females with top quality bloodlines.
